Songwriting

The Folk Fest Songwriting competition is coming up again and I've been thinking about my experience there last year.  I walked into the bar just as Jared Klok was starting to play.  I think about this song every so often, there are so many clever phrasing and great lines.

"I'm one of the pack, just yelling out misnomers from the back."

Too bad he isn't around this year.

I've also been really enjoying this lately...

  1. Ah Rio Bravo. The best Western ever made. And one of the greatest American studio films ever made. I love the opening scene. They show so much with no dialogue. What's your favourite scene?

  4. "The best Western ever made"

Yeah? I don't understand that. I know it's a dearly loved film by a lot of people, but it didn't bring me much pleasure. Not that I disliked it, but...

I should probably watch it again.

  5. I always think of Rio Bravo as my favorite feel good western. It is a different kind of film than say, 'The Wild Bunch' or even 'Stagecoach.' I don't think it is as great a movie, but it's concerned with a very different combination of elements.
